Gold Canyon, Arizona Homes

Gold Canyon is a relatively new community – many of the homes here have been built since the early 2000s. Housing options range from affordable condos and single family homes to custom built luxury homes in private gated community.  It is an upscale community of about 10,000 (a number that increases substantially during winter months when snowbirds are escaping winter weather).

Located just 45 minutes east of Phoenix at the base of Superstition Mountain, Gold Canyon is an outdoor paradise with numerous hiking and biking trails, camping areas and golf courses. Warm, sunny days turn into cool nights in Gold Canyon, and the scenery is spectacular. Gold Canyon also has all the amenities you’d expect in a much larger town. You’ll find movie theaters, coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques as well as medical facilities, banks and schools.

The town has two constituent neighborhoods with most of the housing built relatively recently. The construction of new real estate usually is an indication that the local economy is robust, and that jobs or other amenities are attracting more people to the area. This seems to be the case in Gold Canyon, where the median household income is $62,477.

Gold Canyon home prices are among the most expensive in Arizona, as well as ranking also among the most expensive in America. The community has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students so if you like quiet this is an excellent place to live.  Gold Canyon is home to both blue-collar and white-collar families.

An interesting fact is that a relatively large number of people in Gold Canyon telecommute to their jobs. About 12.88% of the workforce works from home. This number might seem small however it ranks among the highest telecommuting workforce in the country.
